June 2020 Newsletter

President's Message

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe and has had time to do things you enjoy. This will be quick.

Maridene is going to post some photos from Roberta's service and luncheon. I'm looking forward to seeing these, I was traveling for work and could not attend. Thanks to those that could be there and especially Pat McKean for speaking.

Details for the opening social will be in the July newsletter.

Have fun and take care,

Betty

Roberta Hixson Hutcheon
1943 ~ 2020

One of heaven's most precious souls has returned home. Roberta Hixson Hutcheon, the beloved daughter of Shirley Hixson and Douglas Hixson, was born Nov. 10, 1943, and passed Jun 1, 2020. Survived by husband Clay, brother Ray Hixson, four children, and eight beautiful grandchildren. Roberta was a talented artist and life was her canvas.

This is a photo of Roberta at our guild Christmas party.  She looked gorgeous and stunning with her short gray hair.  We will miss you Roberta!

It is with a sad heart that we said goodbye to Robert Hutcheon.  Many of us have painted with Roberta for 35-40 years.  Her funeral services were perfect and reflected her sweet personality and artistic talent.   Pat McKean represented the guild and gave a wonderful talk.  Thank you Pat! The guild donated money to cancer research in Roberta's name.  Roberta's husband was very thankful for the donation because he wants researchers to find a cure for cancer.

After the graveside services, we were invited to Roberta's home, where her family had her beautiful artwork on display. See the photos below.  Roberta was a beautiful and fast painter, and she always finished her projects. Our hearts go out to her husband, Clay, her children and grandchildren.

Ladies from our painting guild that attended the services:
Pat Nelson, Kay Salisbury, Velma Glad, Marilyn Healy,
Pat McKean, Gail Jenson, Shonnie Whitney, and Maridene Alexander.
