Business Report

At the opening social in August we had a vote on raising the dues to $25.00. It passed unanimously. We had a quorum and there were no dissenting votes. Starting the 2017 year we will pay $25.00 a year for UGHA dues and we will continue to get the awesome teachers that we have been getting. Our next board meeting for all of the UGHA board members is September 26, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at Hoppers.  Dues for 2017 can be paid anytime starting in September.  Loretta has a credit card reader, so all transaction can now be conveniently done by credit card if desired.

Fall Social
Thanks to leadership and to Lisa Peck for a fun, and tasty fall social.  Saturday, August 20, we met at 11:00am at Lisa Peck's home.  We all created a make-it-and-take-it beaded bracelet (each unique and fitted to the maker), ate great food catered by Cafe Rio (great Key Lime Pie and Dulce Leche), and scored (sometimes) in a challenging trivia game created by Betty V.P;  and just had a fine time chatting and catching up on everyone's summer.  It was a great way to start our fall painting time, I know I enjoyed seeing everyone and hearing about their vacations, and family events.

In Memory
It was with great sadness that we all learned that we had lost a good friend this summer.  June Skollingsberg passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016. June had been diagnosed with esophageal and stomach cancer and had begun her treatment.  She suffered a massive stroke on July 23, which put her into a coma.  She passed away peacefully after receiving excellent care.
June was a talented painter and teacher, quilter, and loved fiber arts.  She attended many seminars over the years and had a large network of friends.  She will be missed.
