At 9:10 a.m. President, Lisa Peck, welcomed everyone. She introduced two new ladies: Mary Ann, who is a friend of Glenna's from Las Vegas and Karen Johnson who has recently moved here from Ohio.
Lisa gave some time to Betty Van Pelt who talked about two teachers for 2015 that we might consider. They were:
Sherry Nelson---paints with oils---could come the first weekend in October
Mary Ribbit (?)---who teaches a silk scarf done with permanent Sharpies and alcohol. She could come the 3rd week of September for a two day seminar. It was suggested by Kay that since Betty had taken the class, along with other Guild members, that perhaps Betty with the help of the others could teach the scarf to our Guild instead.
Lisa then talked about the seminar coming up on April 11-2 with Jillybean. This class had been moved from our regular 3rd Saturday because of the difficulties related to the Holladay marathon route. Jillybean well teach the Giraffe painting on Friday and the White Rose on Saturday. We will leave with finished pieces. Decoart pays airfare and Jillyberan donates her painted teaching pieces to the chapter for raffle. Paint will be provided. Please support this seminar. Golden Spike Chapter has been notified of this event also.
May 17 will be a UFO day. There will be an excellent luncheon provided. Please come even if just to visit.
Kay showed the cement toads being offered for retreat. The price of the mother and baby will be $30.00. Additional babies may be ordered for $5.00 each.
June 19-20-21 will be our annual Retreat at Jolynn's cabin. More details to follow soon.
August will be our Summer Social at Kay's backyard. It will be a tea party and there will be a "Fascinator" contest. Kay will bring one to show. Make your own for that night.
Our Service Project will be to the Women's Guild. Bring dresses or suits that you no longer need to donate to this worthy cause. These women need nice clothing to wear on job interviews. Bring these items to the summer social in August.
Bill Bayer will be our guest artist on September 25, 26, 27. His charge will be $85.00 per day. He asked if we have a snapshot of Utah scenery we'd like to paint. Send to him and he will use it for a class. He brings canvases already prepped.
Hazel showed her table she painted at the Provo chapter meeting. This will be taught at our November meeting. The tables are $20.00 and can be purchased at IKEA. They are metal. They can be found on Aisle 11 Bin 1. (I know this to be correct because I have already purchased mine.). There is a Lazy Susan at IKEA that could also be used for this pattern. Hazel said to be creative and fun.
Loretta had to leave early, so if we need to take care of finances, please do so.
Shonnie suggested we have list of paint needed for classes early so if we need to order paint, we will have time.
Turned the time over to Jolene for Raffle and then to Judy for the class.
There were 17 members and 2 guests present making a total of 19 in all.
Respectfully submitted,
Kay Salisbury, Secretary, UGHA
