May 2020 Newsletter
Hello Painting Ladies,We hope that you are all doing well and that you and your family members are in good health during this COVID-19 pandemic.
We have all had to make many changes in our lifestyle, and give up many of the things we enjoy doing the most: painting together as friends, celebrating birthdays and anniversaries, shopping in stores, going to movie theaters, going to concerts, going to plays, and the list goes on and on.
In return, we have all had to look inward. Find new ways to entertain ourselves. Develop our talents. Learn to cook something new. Finish quilting, painting and craft projects that were left undone. Dejunk and clean out our homes. We have been able to really enjoy and appreciate nature. The sky looks bluer than ever before. Our air is cleaner. The stars shine brighter. The blossoms on the trees and the tulips somehow look prettier than we ever noticed. Our animals are happy to have us home. We find joy in the simple things.
Your UGHA Board met via Zoom on Monday evening. We discussed what we do next. Do we hold the May meeting? What about retreat? The group decided, as a whole, that we should hold off a bit longer. We are therefore canceling the May meeting and the retreat in June. This was a very hard decision to make. We were all looking forward to Marilyn's class and the classes we had arranged for retreat. We talked about still offering these classes perhaps throughout the year or at next year's retreat.
We are looking forward to our August 15th opening social at the Grimm family home in Tooele. We will be painting the flamingo that was scheduled for retreat. As well as painting, there will be swimming, favors, and fun. If still suggested, social distancing can happen at the opening social. Twelve flamingos were pre-purchased. The first twelve people to send their payment to Pat McKean will get the ordered pieces. The cost is $17.00.

We hope you understand that we are thinking of you, hoping that we call get through this and that the very smart doctors and scientists find a vaccine for this disease. We do believe that if we follow the guidelines, keep social distancing and wear masks, we can keep safe.
The world will be back to the way we know it. And when it does, we will meet again as friends and painters and create lovely artwork.
Sincerely yours,
UGHA Board Members
I found these pictures of the Coronavirus. It is interesting to see these artist's depictions of this disease.
