March 2020 Newsletter

Hi Ladies!!

Thank you all for your help with the Karen Brouwer seminar. I love Karen and was thrilled we could offer this seminar. I hope everyone enjoyed it.  There is a set of paints for each project in a labeled box in the shower at the studio. Please do your best to keep sets together and return them to the shower.

Karen left her finished pieces for us. We will have a raffle ($1 per ticket) funds to be donated to the Assistance League which supports women getting out of abusive relationships, kids, and many, many others.  This year, we will also pick a day to volunteer with them pulling clothing together for needy kids. More info to follow on that.

March - Marilyn is teaching a beautiful poinsettia on a canvas covered in wrinkled tissue paper. If you missed her demonstration for applying the tissue paper at the seminar, it can be viewed on Let's Paint with Plaid. Her poinsettia turned out beautifully.  Consider bringing a friend.

Donna will stop in to talk to us in March about April and May's painting from a photo. Please bring a few photos you are considering and she will talk to each of us. She will also pass out a supply list.  I'm very excited for this. I have some photos I have been wanting to paint and have not attempted.

Look forward to seeing you all for March's meeting.

                                                             Enjoy!

                                                             Betty

March 21 - Poinsetta

Marilyn will be teaching us this beautiful Poinsetta.  This is a fun piece to paint.
Invite a friend or a beginner painter.   This can be painted on a 16" x 20" canvas
or adjust the pattern for a smaller canvas.  Put your tissue paper on and pattern before class.

April 28 and May 16 - Painting from a photo

Donna Richards will be teaching us how to paint from a photo.
This will be a two-part class in April and May.  A landscape or some outdoor
subject would be a perfect choice  for the seminar   won’t be intended for painting a portrait of a human or a pet  but they will learn a few things that would still apply.

Fun photos from the Karen Brouwer seminar!
